New logo text

Points Bounty:
1000

While the light bulb is the perfect symbol for NeoMenlo, the text feels unprofessional. The light bulb needs to be rotated so it looks more like a globe, but the text needs to be completely redone.

The dimensions are not too important.

Height should certainly be less than 100px tall, preferably under 75px.

Width can be just about anything. Keeping the width under 600px would be best, since some screens have low resolutions.

I would like scalable versions of whatever is made as well.

Ideas to consider:

The current logo has the light bulb over the "L". It would probably make sense to move it out to the far left of the text. This means that the "L" does not have to be a capitol "L".

As with other official NeoMenlo site related help tasks, there is potentially a large "points" reward from the unlimited administrative stash.

maybe you should..

Put the lightbulb in the middle of Neo - Menlo.

I LOVE the translucent light bulb you made in Blender.
It be awesome it you somehow incorporated that with the title aswell.  or not.

I just really like it.

Also.. I think you're getting a little too critical of stuff.
I think the text is great.  But if u want to upgrade.. that's fine.
I'll help out anyway ^_^

Working on it

I'm currently developing this. At the same time, I'm using an updated version of the light bulb symbol that is rotated so it is clearly a globe.

Right now, all I'm doing is just making some of the letters a bit narrower. I still get the feeling that the font is somewhat unproffessional. I probably should look for something new on dafont or something.

Jill, if you wanted you could try sketching up a new font for it.

sure?

How do I do that?  What program? o.o

Or do you mean just find a better font? What about Arial Narrow?

Any Program Really

It doesn't matter what program you use.

Arial Narrow would be acceptable, but very uncreative. I would prefer to at least see something that's not usually a default font on a computer. A good suggestion would be maybe an open source font, like one they use in Linux. An example would be the Liberation fonts or freeSans.

Another good suggestion would be to use something like Inkscape to just make your own logo font. The advantage to a vector graphics program is that it allows for better creative freedom. It also should not be too dificult. There are only 5 letters. If you aren't restricted to a font, you can do fancier things with the design. You can do things with specific parts of the logo, like the first "o" in Microsoft's logo.

Temporary Enhancement

I have rotated the lightbulb above the L so that it looks like a globe, not just a light bulb with orange on the top. I am still thinking that there should be some kind of improvement with the font as well.
